Employee Recognition App – Dataverse

Overview

The Employee Recognition application is designed for Power Platform. I uses Dataverse, Canvas Apps, and Model-Driven apps. It’s distributed via a .zip unmanaged solution. Anyone who purchases the solution is free to customize it however they want. The app is not yet designed to be viewed on mobile or tablet.

FAQs

1. Can I customize or extend this tool?
Yes. You are free to extend the PowerApp or the Power Automate flow as needed. The Solution package is unmanaged.

2. What happens after I purchase the tool?
You will receive an email message with a link to download the .ZIP solution package. Instructions for installing and configuring the package can be found here. Keep in mind, the .zip package will be sent to your email address associated with your PayPal account.

3. I’m interested in how it’s built. Can I edit and view the PowerApps and flow structure?
Yes, you can! The package gives you full access to view or edit all aspects of this tool. The Solution package is unmanaged.

4. Why isn’t this tool available via AppSource?
The tool is currently under review for AppSource release. However, publishing via AppSource takes a very long time and added overhead to our already very busy development efforts. We wanted to get it to you fast!

5. Is it safe? What about security?
Feel free to use any security scan tool of choice on the .ZIP package. In addition, all PowerApps code can be examined, and all Power Automate actions can be examined.

6. Can I share the Employee Recognition App with users external to my organization?

  1. Check with your Microsoft 365 administrator and ask if Guest users can be added to your organization’s Active Directory.
  2. If the answer is yes, then create the guest user in Active Directory and share the app.

7. I want to use SharePoint as my data source and not Dataverse. Can I do that?
Yes, you can! We have developed a solution that uses Dataverse instead of SharePoint. Find that solution here.

8. What if I don’t like it and want a refund?
Please contact us here, and we can issue a refund.

10. Will this app work with Dataverse for Teams?
No. However, we are working on a version that does work with Dataverse for Teams.

11. If a new version is released, will I get a notification?
No. The version you purchase will be an unmanaged solution. Because the app may have been customized, the new version may not be compatible.

12. Can I embed this on our SharePoint site?
It’s not recommended.

    I get this error when I try using the app for the first time:

    “`You don’t have permission to view this data. Server Response: EmployeeRec_Settings failed: RetrievePrivilegeForUser: The user with id XXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXX has not been assigned any roles. They need a role with the prvReadnew_EmployeeRec_Settings privilege.“`

    • Rick, make sure the user has at minimum “Basic User” role in the environment. Please keep me posted on the results.
